Dublin Lord Mayor commits to Digital Masterplan for city by June 2013
Launching the Digital Dublin Leadership Forum in the Mansion House today Dublin’s Lord Mayor Naoise Ó Muirí pledged that the City would have a Digital Masterplan by June of 2013. The objective of the Masterplan will be to develop Dublin as a world centre of digital excellence. Over 50 leaders from major technological companies, government agencies and Universities met to direct and shape the digital future of Ireland’s capital at today’s Forum.

Irish start-up wins respected technology innovation award from European Space Agency
Irish technology start-up ‘Vicinity Systems®’ has been awarded first prize for Ireland at the European Space Agency’s prestigious technology awards ‘The Galileo Masters’. The awards took place in Munich, Germany. In addition to winning the regional prize, the company was also shortlisted for the ‘ESA Special Prize for Innovation’, and was runner up for the global technology award. It is the first time that an Irish company has won a prize.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is preparing for a busy school year with their new initiative ‘Trad is Fab’ which was officially launched by Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn TD today. ‘Trad is Fab’ is specifically developed and arranged by the Comhaltas Meitheal Education committee to introduce primary school pupils to Traditional Irish music, song and dance. Each pack includes a DVD, five classroom posters, a teachers workbook and pupil worksheets for third and fourth class pupils.
