ALONE seeks clarity on Ireland’s vaccination strategy and implementation for older people

ALONE, the organisation that supports and empowers older people, is seeking clarity on Ireland’s vaccination strategy and implementation for older people addressing the importance of quality for access. The organisation is taking action after one in five of calls into their National Support Line in the past week concern general COVID-19 related queries, COVID-19 vaccination and testing questions and the restrictions that concern older people as Level 5 looks to continue well into February.

Irish Travel Agents Association urges Government to aid travel agents in post-COVID recovery

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) is calling on the Government to take steps to support the Irish travel industry by ensuring that travel agents are protected in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.  As pressure mounts for a ban on non-essential travel between EU member states, the ITAA want to see the travel sector treated fairly with long-term supports put in place for Irish travel agents.

ITAA notes that many customers are still hesitant to book holidays for Summer 2021

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has stated that increases in 2021 bookings have been minimal so far, due in part to the slow rollout of vaccinations and consumers lingering fears surrounding COVID-19. The Association believes that higher levels of vaccinations are needed before a safe return to international travel will be viable.

Bid Adieu to feeling Blue with ALONE

ALONE, the organisation which supports older people, wants you to Bid Adieu to feeling Blue on what has been labelled as the toughest day of the year. The organisation has voiced its concern regarding older people’s mental health as ‘Blue Monday’, Monday 18th January, approaches as we reach the height of the third restrictive phase since COVID-19 arrived in Ireland. The organisation is calling on members of the public to continue supporting their older friends, neighbours and relatives who may be finding things difficult under renewed Level 5 restrictions.

ALONE encourage public to check in on older neighbours as weather takes a colder turn

ALONE is urging older people to take extra care as temperatures begin to drop during the cold snap in the coming days.  Older people can be more vulnerable during poor weather and frosty conditions, especially those living alone or in rural areas, those with health issues, and those with limited mobility. Older people may also be struggling under the current Level 5 restrictions, so it is important to reach out to them to ensure that they have everything they need and that they are kept safe and warm this winter.

Irish Travel Agents Association calls on Government to protect consumers under current travel restrictions

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) is calling on the Government to take steps to protect consumers by ensuring that customers are adequately compensated for disrupted bookings amid the current COVID-19 pandemic. As the Government continues to advise against all non-essential travel overseas, the ITAA believe that flights overseas should be cancelled in order to ensure that customers are refunded.

Irish Travel Agents Association call for uniformity of COVID-19 testing across Europe

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) have welcomed the decision from Government to require a negative COVID-19 test from all travellers into Ireland, and is calling  for a consistent and uniform approach to pre-flight testing across Europe. The new rules will require anyone flying into Ireland to produce a negative PCR test result received within three days before arrival, in order to control the rising numbers of coronavirus cases in Ireland.
