Busker Fleadh brings an eclectic programme of music online this weekend

Dublin City Council is proud to present the Busker Fleadh, taking place ONLINE for the first time this Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October from 11am each day. Organised by Dublin City Council, this FREE family event will showcase some of the most invigorating busking acts from around Ireland, with an opportunity for viewers to vote for their favourite!

The event will be streamed on the Busker Fleadh Facebook page and YouTube channel, featuring a diverse line up of bands and solo acts playing both well-known hits and original compositions. As well as fantastic performances from our buskers, viewers will have the opportunity to participate in various music workshops and activities, hosted by RockJam Music School. From performance tips to specific instrument workshops, RockJam have everything budding musicians need to hone their skills.

First prize is a free recording session with a professional sound engineer (valued at €1,000) in Windmill Lane Recording Studios and a digital copy of the recordings, and second prize will win a new model Hudson Guitar (valued at €300) from Gandharva Loka and Hudson Guitar Co!

Busker Fleadh organiser, Kathryn Byrne, said of the event, “We are delighted to be able to host the fifth Busker Fleadh online this year, making sure that we can safely celebrate our talented buskers while adhering to the current safety guidelines. Busking culture has always been an important part of Dublin’s vibrant music scene and the Busker Fleadh is a great opportunity to celebrate this and showcase new talents. Recorded in the heart of Dublin city, this is a fantastic event for people of all ages, backgrounds and music styles to come together and share in their love of music.”

This has been a tough few months for those involved in the performing arts, so it’s a great opportunity for buskers to get out and share their talents safely, in line with current COVID-19 safety guidelines.”

With a varied line up of groups and solo performers covering a wide range of genres, instruments and musical styles, there is bound to be something for everyone at the Busker Fleadh, online this Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th October!
