Irish Travel Trade Shows 2020 postponed due to COVID-19

Ireland’s largest Travel Trade Shows postponed to a later date in Cork and Dublin due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.

The decision has been made by the board of the Irish Travel Agent’s Association (ITAA) to postpone this years’ annual Irish Travel Trade Show, which was set to host two shows for the first time this year. The first show was scheduled to take place in The Imperial Hotel, Cork on the 1st of April, and the second in Hotel Riu Plaza, the Gresham Dublin on the 2nd of April.

ALONE encourage older people to remain calm and take preventative health measures as COVID-19 is confirmed in Ireland

ALONE is urging older people to take extra care and observe guidelines from the HSE and Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) following the announcement of a case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the east of Ireland. Older people may be more vulnerable to viruses such as COVID-19, due to compromised or weakened immune systems or pre-existing health issues. ALONE is advising older people to remain calm and follow the relevant preventative measures to stay well in order to reduce their risk of contracting the virus.

ALONE urge older people to take extra care as Met Éireann issues orange weather warning for north and west

ALONE is urging older people to take extra care following the status orange weather warning issued by Met Éireann for parts of the west and north as Storm Ciara continues. In place from 6am today until 8pm this evening, very strong westerly winds with mean speeds of 65 to 80km/h are forecast in coastal areas and gusts could reach 110 and 130km/h later tonight. These winds will affect Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.

Dublin, Sunday 26th January 2020 Holiday World Show Dublin celebrated its 30th anniversary this weekend by welcoming 45,400 guests to the RDS Simmonscourt for the Show’s biggest year yet, with a 15% increase in figures from last year. Holiday World Show is Ireland’s largest travel exhibition, which offers visitors the chance to meet over 2,000 travel industry professionals from around the globe to plan the holiday of their dreams.
