The Busker Fleadh celebrates independent music and performance in Smithfield Square

Smithfield Square is coming alive with live music and performance for the second annual Busker Fleadh, on Sunday 8th October. A wide variety of busking acts will delight and entertain the crowd with the best of independent music and performance Ireland has to offer. Brought to you by Dublin City Council, this free event will guarantee a great day out to all music lovers.

Audiences will experience performances with ranging music genres, styles and cultural backgrounds and witness returning acts such as the inspiring High Hopes Choir, Ireland’s first choir for homeless people, as well as new emerging artists.  In addition to these stunning musical performances, street artists will entertain and amaze the gathered crowds. Judges from the music industry will be voting in the Dublin Busker Competition for their favourite live performers, which will see the winner receive a paid set in the Button Factory, as well as a free recording session in Windmill Lane Recording Studios!

Speaking at the launch of The Busker Fleadh, Lord Mayor of Dublin Ardmhéara Mícheál MacDonncha said, “The Busker Fleadh is a great event for all ages, right in the heart of Dublin City. This event highlights the vibrant music scene in Ireland and the importance of the busking culture to the vitality of Dublin. Is cathair ceolmhar muid agus tásúil agam go mbainfidh gach duine taitneamh as.”

Busker Fleadh organiser, Kathryn Byrne, said of the event, “We are delighted that the Busker Fleadh is returning for a second year. Throughout the day, Smithfield Square will play host to thousands of music fans who can enjoy an exciting and diverse line up of live performances!”

Whether you’re a fan of rock, folk or hip hop, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy at the Busker Fleadh – 12 noon to 5pm, Sunday 8th October, in Smithfield Square, Dublin 7!
