ALONE, the charity that supports older people to age at home, today launched their Christmas campaign highlighting the isolation and loneliness of older people around Christmastime. At the launch of the campaign Anne Doyle, one of Ireland’s best loved broadcasters, urged members of the public to reach out to the older members of their community this Christmas and offer support to those who are living alone.

Tap to Give – ALONE launches Ireland’s first contactless collection boxes

ALONE, the charity that supports older people to age at home, today launched Ireland’s first contactless collection boxes for the Christmas period. The boxes will be in The Butler’s Pantry’s ten shops from the end of November until January 2017.  Ireland’s most famous duo Jedward joined today’s launch and called on the public to ‘tap to give’ and support older people this Christmas.

The Young Offenders crosses €1 million at the Irish box office

The runaway smash hit Irish comedy The Young Offenders passed the €1million mark at the Irish Box Office last night, October 20th.  In a year that has been praised for quality Irish film, The Young Offenders has become the fastest Irish film to break the €1million mark at the Irish Box Office this year, and next week it will be the highest grossing Irish-made film of the year at the domestic box office, overtaking Sing Street.  It now joins the ranks of other classics such as The Guard, Calvary and Man About Dog as one of the few Irish comedy films to reach this Irish Box Office milestone.
