‘A White, White Day’ to open in Irish cinemas on 28th August 2020

Wildcard Distribution is delighted to be bringing Hlynur Palmason’s award-winning drama A WHITE, WHITE DAY to Irish cinemas next Friday, 28th August.

In a remote Icelandic town, an off-duty police chief begins to suspect a local man of having had an affair with his late wife who died in a tragic accident two years earlier.  Gradually his obsession for finding out the truth accumulates and inevitably begins to endanger himself and his loved ones.  A story of grief, revenge and unconditional love.

Written and directed by Hlynur Palmason (Winter Brothers), it stars the award-winning and revered stage and screen actor Ingvar Sigurdsson (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Everest).

The film had its world premiere at the Semaine de la Critique, Cannes where Sigurdsson’s powerful lead performance saw him awarded the prestigious Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award.  The drama went on to screen at film festivals across the globe, including the Cork Film Festival where it had its Irish premiere.  It was also Iceland’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards earlier this year.

A White, White Day was produced by Anton Máni Svansson, of Iceland’s Join Motion Pictures. It was co-produced by Katrin Pors, Mikkel Jersin and Eva Jakobsen, of Denmark’s Snowglobe, Anthony Muir, of Sweden’s Film i Väst, and Nima Yousefi, of Swedish Hobab.
