John Spollen of Cassidy Travel nominated for the position of ITAA President

John Spollen, of Cassidy Travel, has been nominated unopposed for the position of ITAA President.  He will replace the current ITAA President, Cormac Meehan. Similarly, Des Abbott of Des Abbott Travel has been re-nominated for the position of ITAA Treasurer unopposed. Their positions will be formally ratified at the forthcoming ITAA AGM to be held on the 12th of April at the RDS Main Hall Complex, Dublin 4.

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) is excited to announce that voting for the 2018 Irish Travel Industry Awards in association with Aer Lingus is now open.  The Irish Travel Industry Awards, now in their eight-year, are the premier awards for suppliers and agents in the travel industry in Ireland. They will take place in the historic Round Room at the Mansion House Dublin on Thursday, 25th January 2018.

Boost in online bookings for Irish Travel Agents

ITAA Quarterly Survey Results reveal increase in online business for travel agents

The Irish Travel Agents Association’s (ITAA) latest quarterly members survey reveals that 35% of travel agents increased their online business for the third quarter of 2017 (July-Sept), when compared to the same period in 2016. Almost two-thirds of ITAA members surveyed (65%) said that more than 10% of their bookings now come through online channels.

ITAA calls for immediate review of bonding among travel providers following collapse of Monarch

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has expressed strong concern over the lack of bonding among Irish travel providers, following the collapse of the UK’s Monarch Airlines yesterday (Monday) which has resulted in the UK’s biggest peacetime repatriation operation. A £60m operation by the Civil Aviation Authority is currently underway in the UK to bring 110,000 customers home on specially chartered planes.

Updated ITAA Statement on the Cancellation of Ryanair Flights

Travel agents throughout the country have been inundated with queries from intending travellers on Ryanair’s cancelled flights. As a result, the Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has written to Ryanair to repeat its request that the airline immediately publishes a full list of all the flights it intends to cancel over the next six weeks.
